About Me

Hi, my name is Richard P. Ward, aka “RickW”.

I am a GMT (General Maintenance Technician), with experience in many fields, including computer hardware and software.

I've been fixing and maintaining things all my life, As a Mechanic, Welder fabricator, Appliance technician, Motel Maintenance Manager, etc. I still do some fabricating and restoration of old machines in my shop at home.

I am also an amateur photographer / videographer, as you'll see in my site. (Yes, I do that too.)

I started doing computer repairs for friends and acquaintances in the early 1990’s, and found I really enjoy it. When you enjoy doing something, it’s not like work, and you can get seriously carried away.

Since approximately 90% of computer problems are user generated errors, about 6% are software issues, and the remaining 4% hardware related, it isn’t difficult to guess where to start helping other people to enjoy the experience.

I am Comptia A+ Certified, with over 14 years of hands on experience in design, build and diagnostics, and I stopped counting how many viruses, trojans, worms, and other nasties I have removed from peoples’ (and businesses) machines, a long time ago.

I taught beginner to intermediate computer and internet use classes, to senior and low income clients, for 3 years, while building, configuring, and managing, a group of local networks, for a non profit group, and I built and maintain a website for the Cancer Registrars Association of New England. All the graphics on the site are my own work, including the animated gif. http://www.craneonline.org Click the link to see the CRANE website.
